In the Meantime…

Awareness is the first step in moving forward and/or making changes. Therefore, I always try to keep my mind focused on the present moment.  In doing so, my frequent thought is always on where I am in life in comparison to where I want to be. Currently, I know I am in special place within my journey…

I am right above the starting level but not quite close to the end, my goals…. I haven’t completely figured out my purpose but I am aware of what makes me happy. I am not stuck but I do sometimes feel unsure of my decisions.

So until things fully come together, this part of my life I will call, “in the meantime”…

I’ve heard many pastors say “in life you must to know what season you’re in”. I now understand why knowing your season is important because my “in the meantime” could be different from yours. This could possibly be my time to do as much research as I can, on all the endeavors I want to embark. For another, their “in the meantime” could consist of working and saving, tests and testimonies or just having patience in general.

If you don’t know what phase you’re in, you won’t know how to act nor react to the circumstances and situations of your life. You’ll just be going through them but you may miss key points which were meant to help you.

I decided in this stage of my life to use my time to get ready. I will plan for whatever it is I am expecting.“It is better to be prepared for an opportunity and not have one than to have an opportunity and not be prepared.”~Whitney Young, Jr. I will also be grateful in advance. I will make choices which will benefit me right now and not have everything I do only be profitable in the future because tomorrow is not promised.  I will support others and help them along their way, the best way I know how. I will be happy and make use of all my resources and continue to maintain good relationships. Lastly, I will continue to work on me.

Until all your dreams and aspirations come true, what will you be doing “in the meantime”?….

On the “Be Encouraged” page (https://ohemmawrites.com/be-encouraged/ ) find a list of my “It is Possible” people…

Posted under Ohemma’s Words, (https://ohemmawrites.com/ohemmas-words/) find a new and original poem of mine, dedicated to Breast Cancer Awareness, titled “Do It For Her”.

Lastly, “It is Written…” (https://ohemmawrites.com/it-is-written/ ) has an excerpt from “My Utmost For His Highest”!…A devotional book which I read everyday 🙂

Stay you and enjoy,

It’s funny that you write about this. Right now, I am sitting in the airport in St. Louis, coming back from Howard’s Homecoming (which was amazing! lol). Anywho, on my flight from DC, I was reading my current book “Produced By Faith” by Devon Franklin, who is beyond awesome and such an inspiring individual. The part of the book I just finished reading had to do with “editing”. You know how in film, they shoot the raw footage, which can be like 9 hours long, but then they send this footage to the editor, who has to edit it down to about 2 hours for the final feature film. Well, Devon says in the book that that’s pretty much what we go through in life, especially at this age. We’re figuring out what parts to keep and what parts to exclude from our life story. What I realized is that God never really finishes editing our lives. From the moment we were born until the moment we die, different cirumstances, opportunities, people, etc, come in and out of our lives to shape our story. So, if you think about it, we’ll always be in the “in the meantime” phase. The trick is learning how to be OK with being in this phase forever, because God’s work will never be done in us. He’s always looking to edit our lives in order to improve us as time goes on. And for me, this is where patience comes in, which is something that I’ve always struggled with. I bet this is an issue for a lot of people, especially in our generation, where we’re used to computers, technology, social media etc., We want everything to happen instantly. We all want to be CEO’s by the age of 25 and millionaires by the age of 26 LOL. But I’m realizing and embracing that it just doesn’t happen like that. All I can really do is have a vision, go for it, but expect that it could change as life goes on. It’s ultimately God’s plan and his decision, which gives me the permission to let go of the pressure that I put on myself sometimes and just enjoy the moment I’m in. Life is here for us to enjoy, not worry about. So, with all of this being said, my “in the meantime” has everything to do with having patience with myself and the faith of knowing I have to BEST editor in The Universe editing my story. Thanks for this post Queen. Great job!

Kelauni J!! I should erase what I wrote and copy/paste your reply. Thank you for your insightful words. What you said is true. I never thought of life that way but I get it. We’ll always be in an “in the meantime” kind of phase just at a different level. Patience is very important, I struggle with that also. However, it’s nice to know as things in life are constantly being edited the actual editor (God) always remains the same 🙂
