About

nonameMy name is Queen S. Ofori aka Ohemma. I’m a 25-year-old West-African writer, born and raised in the Bronx, NY. Ohemmawrites.com is my baby! It is my personal blog, featuring my creative writing as well as the inspirational and knowledgeable words of others. Upon graduation in 2011, from St. John’s University, I’ve interned and worked in all facets of the entertainment industry: film, TV, music & journalism. For me, every one of my opportunities share a common denominator and that is the appreciation of art & creativity.

As a young lady going on life’s unknown journey, the one thing I love to do is reflect back on childhood memories. I find this saying to be true, “you can’t know where you’re going, until you know where you’ve been”. Ever since I can remember I was scribbling and scripting on something (usually my parent’s mail); signing my signature on everything. My favorite line was: “when I get famous, my signature is going to be like this”… Growing up, I was also into stories and lyrics. Either I was making some up or I was being entertained by one. However, poetry was where I started. At a young age I would just rhyme words and hope everything made sense. Then I started to notice that I was actually good at it.

noname-1Fast forward, 10+ years writing is still one of my passions. I read often and I love other people’s writing as well.  I admire the simple and inventive use of words. Whether it is a quote, lyrics, thoughts on paper or said out loud, if it inspires, teaches or motivates… I’m saving and sharing it! I hope to one day be able to touch people with my words and experiences, in the same way many of my role models have influenced me. It is my goal to do this through music and literature but whatever way God blesses me with, I’ll be satisfied.  Nonetheless, in taking the time to notice the connections of my younger self and the woman I am today, there are two things I know for sure. I am Ohemma and I love to write!

Thank you for sharing yourself with us, so glad you are sticking with what is coming through you. Most young people don’t have the courage or confidence to explore these parts of themselves. I commend you for allowing this side of you to come out and share with us. Keep it coming lady….
